Study Law in Canada Information Session

This online information session is for international applicants as well as internationally trained lawyers who have never studied law in Canada. This session discusses OsgoodePD’s full-time program offerings and the application process. This session is available on demand, so you can watch it at your convenience.

Watched our Study Law in Canada On Demand Information Session and still have questions? Sign up to join a virtual office hours session!

Attendees will have a ten minute 1:1 advising session with one of our Advisors. There are no scheduled appointment times for drop-in hours, attendees will be seen on a first come, first served basis. You should expect to wait in a queue (rather than being seen immediately), so make sure to have a comfortable chair and bring something to do while you wait (just like a real waiting room!) To attend this session, you will need a device that is compatible with Zoom, with a microphone/speakers and camera.

OsgoodePD offers the broadest range of programs available in Canada for internationally trained lawyers. Whether you are looking to specialize with a professional graduate degree or start the process of qualifying to practise common law in Canada, there’s a learning option to suit your needs.

If you are a law graduate or lawyer looking to study law at the graduate level in Canada, we recommend you consider our full-time Professional LLM options or our full-time Graduate Diploma in Foundations of Canadian Law.

Osgoode Hall Law School also has Research-based LLM and PhD programs that welcome applications from international students.

Life in Toronto

Toronto has been recognized as one of the most diverse cities in the world. More than half of the city’s 2.7 million residents were born outside of Canada. Over 250 ethnicities and 170 languages are represented in the Toronto Region, and roughly half the population identifies as a visible minority. The city takes great pride in its multiculturalism (the city’s slogan is ‘Diversity Our Strength’) and you’ll find this diversity in the city’s world-class cultural institutions, festivals, food and businesses.

The Osgoode Community

As Canada’s largest and most diverse law school, Osgoode Hall Law School has earned a global reputation for attracting talented students. Osgoode Professional Development is home to Canada’s largest graduate student population, across 16 Professional LLM programs and 2 graduate diplomas. Our alumni hail from more than 60 countries. We aim to build an inclusive, welcoming community for international students, one that offers an unmatched range of courses, as well as individualized support to help students achieve their goals.

Our programs are run out of two locations – Osgoode Hall Law School, on York University’s Keele campus and Osgoode Professional Development, located in the heart of downtown Toronto. Students are integrated both into the Osgoode community through high-quality extracurricular activities and events, and into the broader professional community through our downtown location, where students can find endless opportunities to broaden their professional network.

Application Process and Agents

International students are welcome, but not required, to work with an education agent who can provide support to them from the application process to arrival in Toronto. We’ve chosen to work with agents who have a deep understanding of our programs and the needs of applicants from their assigned areas.

Diana’s work is focused on administrative law and litigation, including litigation of licence revocation, professional discipline and prosecution cases.

Diana says, “Having the OsgoodePD LLM gave me the confidence of transferring my foreign law degree and previous knowledge and experience back to Canada.  I’m excited to share my knowledge with prospective applicants from Mexico who are considering OsgoodePD!”
