Student Career Support

OsgoodePD provides a number of valuable services and student career support to degree and diploma students. These services are led by experts who are available to assist you on your professional journey and offer opportunities to expand your professional network.

Counselling

Through one-on-one advising appointments (offered during the daytime and evening, in-person and online), our experts can help with resume and cover letter review, mock interviews, job search strategies, and more.

Networking Events

As degree or diploma student you’ll have access to a wide variety of networking opportunities. Whether you’re interested in attending academic conferences, annual professional symposiums, speaker series or more casual social mixers, you will find opportunities to broaden your professional network in your specialized field.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Licensed lawyers can complete their annual CPD requirements while completing their degree. All our courses are eligible for 12 Substantive hours through the Law Society of Ontario, and many courses are eligible for Professionalism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or diversity hours. If you’re from another Canadian jurisdiction, it’s as simple as getting in touch with our CPD team – we’ll connect with your provincial law society to determine equivalency.

Job Postings

As degree student you’ll have access to job postings via Osgoode’s career services, the portal that top firms use for recruitment. You can find additional postings on job search websites, including Indeed, Jooble, and Eluta.

Complimentary and Discounted CLE Programs

OsgoodePD offers a broad range of continuing legal education (CLE)/professional development (PD) courses. Taking a PD course is a great way to get timely information on an emerging area of the law, policy updates or to meet your CPD requirements. As an LLM student, you’re eligible for one complimentary CLE program per academic year as well as a student/alumni discount. (For more information on the policy consult MyOsgoodePD or contact our registration department.)
