Language Proficiency Requirements

If your first language is not English, you must show you have an acceptable level of English (scores outlined below per test type) by completing a language proficiency test.

If you have completed at least ONE year of full time study at an accredited university where English is the ONLY official language of instruction at the institution level (not only the program level), you will not be required to provide a language test.

Covid-19 Update

Due to COVID-19, and difficulties scheduling test dates we would like to inform you that TOEFL and YUELI’s AP program is offering testing online. We are also accepting Duolingo testing for Fall 2020 and Winter 2021.

We are also investigating other options and will update our website as those become available.

Those admitted to the LLM who require language test results will be conditionally admitted based on satisfying the requirement with official results received 1 month prior to starting the program.

Language tests and scores required (as of Winter 2020)

This applies to all LLM specializations, LLM single courses, and the Diploma in Law for Law Enforcement Professionals.

For the Diploma in Foundations for Graduate Legal Studies, please see the diploma’s page for scores required.
