Nozanin Saidaminova

We had the pleasure of speaking with Nozanin Saidaminova, Commercial Contracts Manager at the University of Victoria, about her journey from Tajikistan to Canada, her experience at Osgoode, and her advice for future students.

Nozanin grew up in the beautiful and mountainous country of Tajikistan. Since childhood, she was interested in both law and learning English, and those two interests ultimately cultivated in completing the LLM in International Business Law at Osgoode. Nozanin first obtained an LLB in International Law from Russian State University for the Humanities. After studying in a civil law system, she wanted to learn how the common law system is formed and practised. Through research and evaluation, she came across Osgoode. The opportunity to specialize in the field of commercial contracts was especially appealing to her and was a key stepping stone to the position at University of Victoria.

“My career often involves working with various types of high-value and high-risk contracts. All the learned knowledge I obtained at the program, both theoretical and practical, guides me through my day-to-day work. One of the great skills I learned from the LLM was how to conduct proper research for information – which is key to success in every project at hand.”

When asked about her advice for future students, Nozanin says “Enjoy the learning curve! Never hesitate to reach out to the OsgoodePD support staff, and instructors if anything is unclear! Networking and making connections are key to your career growth!”.
